Species of Coenagrionidae (Pond Damselflies)

Ceriagron tenellum (small red Damselfly)Coenagrion puella (azure bluet)Enallagma cyathigerum (common bluet)Pyrrhosoma nymphula (large red Damselfly)Ischnura elegans (Blue-tailed damselfly)

These relatively small damselflies make up the most abundant family of Zygoptera worldwide (1100+ species). They are commonly known as Pond Damselflies (due to their preferred habitat of still water) or Narrow-winged damselflies (due to their narrow wings, which are usually clear). Around 30 species occur in Europe, but our collection of photos is still largely incomplete.

Enallagma cyathigerum (Male)
