Coenagrion puella (azure bluet)

A male and female azure bluet in a copulatory wheel (mating).

Location: South West England

Geography: Lake

    Distribution

    Common across most of Europe

    Identification

    A fairly small damselfly. Males are light blue with black markings, notably a U-shaped marking on the second segment which is not connected to the black band at the end of the segment. Females are glossy green with black markings (which are denser, especially on the abdomen).
