Species of Calopterygidae (Demoiselles)

Calopteryx haemorrhoidalis (copper demoiselle)Calopteryx splendens (banded demoiselle)Calopteryx virgo (beautiful demoiselle)

Commonly known as Jewelwings, Broad-winged damselflies or Demoiselles, damselflies of the family Calopterygidae are typically large and of metallic colouration. They also often boast coloured wings. Four species of Calopterygidae inhabit the streams and rivers of Europe, but we do not yet have any photos of Calopteryx xanthostoma (the Western Demoiselle).
