I found this male banded demoiselle amongst the reeds at the edge of a lake.

    Common Name(s)

Found in most of Eurasia between Western Europe and China

A large damselfly. Males have translucent wings, with a dark blue-black spot or band in the middle of the wing. In immature males this band may be dark brown. Males have metallic blue to bluish-green bodies. Females have iridescent and translucent pale green wings with white pseudopterostigma (contrastingly coloured patches near the wing-tips). They have metallic green or green-bronze bodies.
